Obstgarten School Complex, Stäfa

The existing music hall wing was completely demolished down to the basement level. The new library was built on the ground floor of the existing basement, and the community hall was constructed on the upper floor.

Renovation and expansion of the Obstgarten School Complex, Stäfa

The structural system of the community hall essentially consists of a “concrete box” supported by individual cores on the ground floor. The ceiling above the community hall is formed by prefabricated, pretensioned ribbed slabs. The ceiling above the ground floor is designed as a flat slab supported by the cores and individual internal columns. The concrete walls on the upper floor act as wide-span deep beams, transferring the loads from the upper floor ceiling to the cores. The core walls were extended through the basement and founded on micropiles.
Both classroom wings are being expanded laterally on each floor by the size of one group room and are being seismically retrofitted.
