Hangenmoos Settlement, Wädenswil

New residential development in a prominent hillside location in Wädenswil, consisting of 20 solid construction houses connected by a shared underground parking garage. The selection and materialization of the load-bearing elements in the facade and building interior allow for economical, flexible, and sustainable floor plan design.

New Construction Hangenmoos Settlement, Wädenswil

The cast-in-place flat slabs rest primarily on the load-bearing facades and the interior apartment partition and core walls. The non-load-bearing walls in between can therefore be modified very easily at a later stage without adjustments to the overall structural system. The single-story underground parking garage connects the lower three building sections and serves as an internal access road. The construction follows the terrain contour and supports the building above at selected points.

The stepped building base is designed such that the floor slabs are predominantly positioned on the molasse bedrock. This allows the buildings to be founded very simply with shallow foundations. The associated hillside cut of up to 8 m in the challenging geological environment was executed using anchored and nailed slopes.
