The school building from the 1970s is being converted to provide the municipality of Hergiswil’s pupils with a modern learning environment. To this end, various conversions and extensions will redesign the rooms and access routes, while at the same time upgrading the load-bearing structure in line with today’s state of the art.

With the installation of new reinforced-concrete seismic walls, the building now fully meets today’s seismic safety requirements. By taking the site-specific design response spectrum into account, local conditions and the latest scientific findings in earthquake research could also be addressed. The individual adaptations and additions to the load-bearing structure are carried out in reinforced concrete construction, enabling the necessary conversions to be implemented and the building fabric to be strengthened where required.
