Glatt Bridge Zwicky Area, Wallisellen

The new Glatt Bridge in the Zwicky Area connects the two construction fields D and E within the Zwicky Area and is part of the future non-motorized traffic connection between Stettbach Station and Neugut Station of Glatttal Transport Services.

The pedestrian and utility bridge spans 24.5 m over the Glatt River and has a width of 6.5 m. The main load-bearing structure of the steel bridge consists of two arches with a tubular cross-section. To ensure horizontal stability, the arches are rigidly connected to the abutments. Suspended from the arches is the deck slab, which consists of tapered I-section crossbeams spaced approximately 2.6 m apart, and a ribbed steel trough above them. The crossbeams are provided with cutouts for the utility lines. An asphalt surface applied to the steel trough forms the bridge’s roadway. Due to the poor load-bearing capacity of the subsoil, the bridge is founded on two large-diameter bored piles per abutment.
