Europaallee Zurich

The "Baufeld G" building complex is part of the "Europaallee" urban development. It consists of the nineteen-story Gull Tower, a twelve-story retirement residence, a four-story plinth building serving as the base for both towers, and two basement levels.

The supporting structure consists of a skeleton construction in cast-in-place concrete and prefabricated element columns. The columns are not arranged in a regular grid. Their layout is the result of optimizations across many floors with different uses and the effort to avoid transfer structures. To protect the groundwater carrier, an extremely thin pile-raft foundation was implemented.
